Winter Scenes in Teton Valley Early Dec. 2014

Not sure why I didn't post this.  I found it in my drafts but this would have been written sometime late November or early December 2014.

Winter comes early in Teton Valley especially this year.  Up until last Sunday it was warm, balmy and sunny and we had a great long Fall.  Then the switch flipped and Monday we woke up to a land of snow.  There was enough snow to make the pass slippery and it was closed for a few hours.  I went over a little before 11 am.  On Tuesday the snow froze as temperatures dropped below zero.  On my pickup the lowest I saw was -20 when I got up to start it on Wednesday.  This valley is strange in that different parts of the valley will change 10-20 degrees.  As I was driving home from the church (taking scouts home) to 7000 S. and back to my home on Tuesday night I saw changes from -3 to -8 to -11 and back to -8 when I got to my house.  It generally gets colder toward the river but not always.  A friend reported -22 on Tuesday morning and she lives further from the river than we do.  Looking to the West from my house, many times we can see a layer of fog over and above the river.  What a beautiful valley.  I am going to post Winter pictures in this area as I take them so stay tuned as I post updates.
